Fifty meters to the east is cleared agricultural fields. Downslope has more tulip tree, patchy with beech-red oak.;Upper- middle, north facing hillslope in dissectewd plateau landscape. Community is a deciduous forest dominated by large white oak, red oak, pignut hickory and black gum. High size class diversity w/ sourwood, magnolia, beech, and maples in subcanopy. Abundant chestnut oak in short sapling cohort. Plot is adjacent to canopy gap from large deadfall. Herb cover and diversity is low. Large sawn, rotted stumps, possibly from select logging of current oldest cohort. Plot is on edge of old growth patch with iterpretive sign.

Large patch, natural oak-hickory forest, patchy, interspersed with patches of semi-natural tulip tree. Plot captures flora of old growth patch.
